Chennai Fuel crisis – How vulnerable we are

Times of India – Those with petrol vehicles continued to brave the 41-degrees heat for a couple of litres of the fuel. “I stood in a queue at a pump in Nungambakkam from 6am to 9.30am, and finally got two litres for my bike,” said V K Santhanam, an insurance agent.

Is this 2012, end of world, Armageddon ?

Chennai (India) residence and businesses learns how vulnerable we actually are with fossil fuel. The entire cities life style, work culture goes hey-wire within couple of days of shortage of fossil fuel. There is no backup plan, and there can never be any since its the only thing which we have not been able to replace with.

India imports its 80% of fossil fuel from countries which are not in control of it or have no strong ties at all. Just imagine how tough the situation would be if West stops the flow via their controlled oil field to India. Already we see though IRAN want’s to sell oil to India at a really cheap rate but Congress Government going US way to sever tie with IRAN and make the burden pass on to common Citizen.

It just makes me think, War of oil fought by US and west is so justified since their citizens will never have to face this type of hell what Chennai people are now going through.

Am I wrong ??
