Seven people holding rights and power to Reboot / shut off the internet
If you are reading this, then you already know, Internet is every where and its everything. The worlds entire infrastructure is depended on this communication system.
Internet is not some one’s or some countries personal property rather its a network shared by all. ICANN (formed by representatives of all countries participating in Internet) is the governing body and decision maker of Internet.
Recently in an event held at a closed high security bunker located in US, ICANN created the “Key to the Internet”. This key of internet holds the power to Shutdown or Reboot the Internet in case of emergency.
This Key was too much power for one person hence ICANN broke the Key in seven parts and then they were handed over to seven representatives from seven different continent.
In case of emergency, at-least 5 of them has to initiate the order.
