Paypal down ?? / Error 500 (Internal Server error) on log-in process

It seems Paypal World wide is having an issue with its login process.

When ever I try to login to paypal, it is returning an error 500, meaning, something went wrong at their end under the server which handles user login request.

Paypal is down ??

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@paypal.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Although, paypal is one of the most secure web site in the world wide web, but still, as so many credit or debit cards / online bank accounts are involved, it always brings a scare off attack on the service to obtain those financial data.

What a pain in the neck.
They are now saying they are doing MAINTENANCE. On a monday afternoon, yeah right. SOMETHING Happened.
Man your stations boys, WE’VE TAKEN A DIRECT HIT!

Absolutely..

You are not suppose to take your service down on Monday, that too without any notice..

Makes me wonder, was there any hacking attempt of rather a successful attack forced them to take the service off line ??

Thanks..

At least I’m not the only one. I was getting worried. This is a real pain, I was going to print shipping labels from payments on saturday, now I’m going to have wait till Tuesday to ship. The buyers are going to get pissed off…

@Yiyopr

Hi,

Please try again as many are reporting that service seems to be up and running again..

Thanks..

Ummmm…. Still down here in the UK. Been down since around 6.30pm BST (GMT+1) and it’s now 11.37pm BST. I hope these idiots rectify the issue soon as we’ve got payments to process. Being as big as they are you’d think they’d have some type of back-up procedure for maintenance… Some how I don’t think this is a scheduled service interruption!

Paypal’s SVP, Mr. Scott Guilfoyle writes in his blog,

To all PayPal users, please accept my apologies on behalf of everyone at PayPal for the service interruption you experienced today.

We take our commitment seriously to provide our customers a safe, secure and convenient way to pay and be paid online. So we understand how frustrating it is to experience any disruption in the benefits PayPal provides.

Let me update you on what happened, and how we acted as quickly as possible to restore service. At around 10:30 am PT Monday, a network hardware failure resulted in a service interruption for all PayPal users worldwide. Everyone in our organization focused immediately on identifying the issue and getting PayPal up and running again. We accomplished that in about an hour. By approximately 3 pm PT, full service was restored across our platform.

We’re now working to fully understand how we can prevent such a service interruption from ever happening again. We’re also reaching out to merchants to discuss the impact this interruption had on their businesses.

Nothing is more important than our relationship with our customers, and the trust you have in PayPal. Thanks for your patience today, and for using PayPal.

Best regards,

Scott Guilfoyle
