It was stated here that you need to insert the CD (which is SP1). The reason for this is to have a CD that is now integrated with SP2. CMIIW

The comment about cumulative service packs is no longer always the case. For example Vista SP2 requires SP1 installed first.
I believe it is the case with Office 2007 so the above answer is partially correct.

omg tell me about it. i hate it with acrord32 v6, u cant just grab 6.0.0 install and install 6.0.6 (latest in 6-series) update, but need to push thru 6.0.1 6.0.2..-> ;S school case!

So sorry it relates to Office not SharePoint. My apologies.

Hey bro I need to ask after doing this, will installation time increase ? as it first install, then update. I did not integrated sp1 bcoz of this.

Will installation time increase ?

Marginally..

It is true, that the process installs the update after the actual installation however compare to update released in exe format for previews version of office, these are in the new .MSP format..

So install time increases marginally, not like double or such...

:)

Thanks...

thanks for the nice trick.

Welcome.. :)

saurabh :
i want to ask you that dont we require both sp1 and sp2 to completely update office 2007.or is it like that sp2 contains all the updates and files of sp1 so there is no need for sp1 to be installed (before sp2) if we are installing sp2.
is this true for all the softwares which have sp1 and sp2.

In case of Any Microsoft Service Pack till date, every one of them are cumulative. Meaning later version of Service Pack contains all updates / features / files of previous version of service packs...

So you are in no need of SP1 anymore if you have SP2 with your self..

Thanks..
