Google Chrome - New web browser from Google

Google Chrome, a browser from those who are known to give big hits to the web industry. Google Chrome, an open source web browser which promises to give what our favorites are not delivering. We have seen the development and market penetration of Mozilla FireFox over Microsoft Internet Explorer and now we are having another new and promising browser entering the market.

Though many feels the product is more like Mozilla Code (FireFox family) but actually its lot more closer to Apple’s Safari browser.

Let’s learn more about this new browser Chrome,

Simple Interface : Clean and simple interface, within a second you can understand that Google has assigned all available space for the work pane, hence your work area by default is the largest in all available browser.

The product is very simple to use for both end customers. For example Internet Explorer and also it  (the interface) never makes you feel uncomfortable if you are a Safari or FireFox user.

Personally I am really happy to see that importance is given in the work pane. Just one  problem which personally I am facing with higher resolution is the gap between the the Refresh and Go button !! It takes a lot of mouse movement if you are using 1440×900 or higher resolution to swap between GO and REFRESH buttons.

Empty TAB, full of important information : A new tab is just not an empty tab, it holds important tools full of information for which we would actually open a new tab.

To begin with, a new TAB would hold an easy to navigate bookmark bar where you can few your bookmarks categorically. The bookmark bar is followed by the thumbnail view of most recent web sites which you have visited. Next in line is your full history with an option to search within it.

You may now use your address bar itself as the search pane.

Another cool feature is, you can drag a TAB out from the Google Chrome window and that TAB would now become a separate window of itself. Read more about TABs in Google Chrome.

Downloading a File : Some new thinking here also. Default location of your downloads are Desktop and when you start a download you may view the status at bottom of that TAB.

Thing to note is your download stays with the TAB from which it is been initiated, so as your switch TAB the download wont be visible any more allowing you to use the available space as work space for your web page in the switched TAB.

With Google search is every where, so with download pane too, as you click show all downloads a new TAB opens with information about all downloads and option to search within them.

Read more about Downloads in Google Chrome.

The cool Task Manager : So many times we have faced this issue with Tabbed browsing that one of our TAB becomes unresponsive and which may force us you close the full window.

With Google Chrome we get to have a mini Task Manager for the browser to solve these issue of unresponsive TABs. You can right click in title bar or hit keyboard shortcut “Shift+Esc” to launch the task manager of Google Chrome.

The Incognito mode : A new feature, offering you to browse without keeping any record about that activity in browser history or files related to it in temp locations.

Removing individual passwords : Some thing which many IE users miss. A way to delete individual password stored in browser.

Google Chrome offers you to select, view and delete saved password for individual web pages.

Playing with the bookmarks : Bookmarks are the easiest and fastest way to navigate your way in this vast field of internet and web site, so many content spread in so many web site. Thus bookmarks are really important for us to enable as to save the location of your destination and later on find it with a single click.

Google Chrome offers us easy to edit and personalize the view of our bookmarks, read more about how to play with the settings.

Your Keyboard shortcuts : Plenty of them, read them here.

Major Down sides

No Extensions : As of now one immediate down side would be the fact of missing extensions. One of the main reason for FireFox to succeed is the availability of so many extensions which help us to personalize our browser to suite our browsing needs. Google Chrome as of now do note support extensions.

Cant find print preview : Well guys, I have searched a lot but cant locate any option for print preview. Personally I would love to see the option present allowing us to edit the margin / page size / page type / etc print related setup. In this regard I would point that I personally really like the print preview option for Internet Explorer !!

But we can rest assure that as its an open source product and big house as Google is behind it, we would see many more features and off course vast number of extensions to be available as it goes on through its beta period towards the final launch.

Finally, though there is nothing really special about it, but the simplicity and ability to complete all task with that simplicity is making me like it !!

So go on and give the browser a try. see if it impresses you or not.

this browser is nothin but a rip off from current browsers.the code itself is heavily borrowed from SAFARI n MOZILA.And the sleek features r from the great browser OPERA which started it all.But all this said , google is just trying to get the intial reaction from users for its deceptive application(chrome) which is part of google’s long term goal to dethrone MICROSOFT( this browser is nothin but a window of google’s os(A CLOUD OPERATING SYSTEM as powerfull as a desktop os))

And about the google task manager part there is nothing extra ordinary.cuz it is same as opening more than one window as in IE6.And just look at windows task manager how much each tab is consuming system resources.
