Windows Vista UAC prompt window darkens the screen, Force off (Disable) Aero
When your Windows Vista asks for a UAC (User access control) permission, like the bellow image,
it darkens the screen to temporarily turn off the Windows Vista Aero interface… The UAC prompt is no longer under transparent Aero…
Where as it may look like this,
Why this happens ?? Why UAC promt dialog BOX is not shown with Aero Interface ??
When you carry out any task which is in need for UAC permission, for security reasons, when Windows vista asks for the UAC conformation, it separates the UAC prompt dialog box from your running desktop…. The UAC dialog box runs under a secure mode desktop, so that any malware which may or is running under the regular Aero enable desktop, cant access the UAC to authorize any action….
Many refer to this as a problem with Windows Vista where as this is a feature of Vista….
Can I also get the UAC promt dialog Box under Aero desktop interface ??
Yes it is possible to have that under Aero Interface… How ever do note, by doing this you may be putting your system under security threat….
If you are using Windows Vista Business or Ultimate edition, then, follow this,
1st of all, you must be an administrator user of the system in which you wish to carrry out this steps…
Go to Start and type, Security in search box to locate and launch Local Security Policy…
use the left navigation to click Local Policy >>>> Next to Security Options…
Now at the left work panel, scroll download to second last option (on default installation of Vista) which says “User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation” double click in…
Now you may disable the feature for looks if you want…

Nice post, man. I’ve been looking to get rid of that irritating screen darkening since vista came out. mac osx has the same thing - it just doesn’t give you epileptic seizures when it pops up.
