Integrate / Slipstream Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

 Microsoft Office 2007

Microsoft have released the Service Pack 1 (SP1) for the Office 2007… Many users are asking me that, how can one integrate or rather slipstream the service pack on the installation source !!!

With Microsoft Office 2007 slipstreaming or rather integrating the service pack is really an easy task… One can follow few very simple steps to carry out the action…

Create a Network Installation Source

Insert the Office CD into your CD drive.

Copy all content of the CD to a folder under your hard drive, for example in my case its “F:\O07

Obtain the SP1

Download the Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 1

Please rename the downloaded file to sp1.exe, in my case I download the file to F:\ and then rename it to SP1.exe so the update is now at location, F:\SP1.exe

Cost of Free Information

Free Information / Free Knowledge…

Forums / Blogs / User Groups / Discussion Board, they are all were made and boomed because of the fact, source of free information / free knowledge…

Today was a real disappointment for me… From a very known and active forum of Indian technological youth, I saw no one believed in providing or sharing the information, free…

Just think for your self, why are you here, reading this ??

It is because you are here with intentions to learn some thing to gain knowledge for free… When you want to learn some thing about computers or any thing, you always have an professional option to learn from a professional…

This is where the idea of user groups came in to the picture… Forums / Blogs / Discussion Boards all were meant to share information and that too for free…

Where as now I suddenly realise that, not any more… People are too much worried about Plagiarism, every one wants to have a back link or Credit on sharing information… Information is no longer free though we all claiming to provide it free in our blogs and forums or in discussion board…

The idea is simple, unless you can credit me, you are now welcome to learn, because if I learn, I will implement it… Implementation is the only reason for which I am learning, and when I implement the technique, which I have learnt from a blog or forum, it is possible that some one standing beside me is learning too, so now as the information is no long free, I have to repay which I learnt, by mean of mentioning the original source by browsing the Internet to come a the blog or forum from where I learnt…

The idealism now have changed !!! Which is so disappointing…

The reason I started foruming of bloging is to share information for free, because when I was in my early life with computers, I saw I had to pay to over come certain problems with my computer or how did i use a software or a device… I was cheated many times because of lack of information regarding certain products and techniques !!!

I am no god, I cant reach out for all the people over there in the Internet like me facing problems… but at-least I can share what ever little knowledge I have with what ever little number I can reach out too…

Bloging / foruming is what i do after talking time off from my delay routine with just that goal of sharing information, free information…

Didn’t I expected some thing in return from my blogs or forums ??

What I expected in return is that many be this will encourage others to follow and share their expertise which in terms to day has totally proven wrong…

Its 100% part from me who believes charging for information whom ever I have asked I have got the same reply !!! Information is now, no longer free….

At-least in my blog, I have decided to put up a notice… What ever you are reading or learning at ChotoCheeta.com, is free content… Completely free, its free knowledge, you are welcome to share / re-distribute with any one you like by any mean you like…

Good bye to Worlds first Web Browser “NetScape”

Most of the time when we start our computer, we click to launch Internet Explorer or FireFox to surf and visit our favourite web sites and to check emails or to write a blog post, but rarely we wonder what really has started this…

Everything has a begging, so does the browsing and the most important tool, the Web Browser…

What started it ?? What was the 1st web browser ??

The worlds firts web browser was NetScape Navigator

NetScape Navigator

Late in 1994, a company called Mosaic Communication Corporation developed and launched the world’s first web browser, the Mosaic NetScape 0.9, which in terms was known to all as the Worlds First Web Browser, the NetScapce Navigator…

To many of us, Internet Explorer means the getaway to the Internet, however it is the success of NetScape which has forced Microsoft to develop and ship the very first version of its own browser, the Internet Explorer 1.0 with as a part of Windows 95 Plus Pack…

Hey wait a minute, now days I don’t see NetScape Navigator…

Most people do posses this idea, which in fact is quite right…

Since when Microsoft started bundling Internet Explorer with its all version of Windows, NetScape found itself losing ground over Internet Explorer on the first Browser war…

Some believed, that, because of Microsoft’s monopoly on the OS market and pushing Internet Explorer as with their OS led to the downfall, where as many Microsoft fan would point that because of Internet Explorer’s capability, no one ever felt the need to look for an alternate option…

AOL bought the project on 1999 and went on to convert it to Mozilla as an open source software…

Eventually Mozilla’s success led to the birth of FireFox which is now holds a great market share and threatens microsoft’s browser market share….

December 28th 2007, AOL announced the End of Support and Development for NetScape Navigator… The latest version of which (Netscape 9.0) was nothing more than a skinned down version of FireFox 2.0 with some extensions !!!

Run 5.1 Speaker on 2.1 supported motherboard notebook - Multi plug for Audio output

Recently I went out for a little vacation, I took my ZUNE 30 with me… As I was with my cousin brother, and while on a long distance bus ride, seating beside him enjoying the zune, a question came to my mind…

Why cant we both enjoy the same music or video ??

Infact there is a nifty little tool which makes sure that we can enjoy 2 head or ear phones with a single output device such as ZUNE or iPOD…

Same tools also works for another purpose… Suppose you have a notebook which only has support for single output or rather 2.1 support and you want to run 5.1 / 4.1 on the 2.1 channel supported speaker !!!

The technology is really simple… Multiplug… Same idea as what you may see at wall mounted electrical solutions…

The idea is, take a single input, and provide 2 or more out puts… Bellow is a simple diagram or the idea for Audio out put layout for most of the notebook / Laptop or 2.1 supported motherboard…

Audio out put / connector layout diagram for Notebook / Laptop / Motherboards

As you may see A is Line in, B is line out (which is the jack where you plug the speakers or head phone or ear plugs), C is Mic in…

So basically what this multiplug does is, it gives you 2 outputs in place of one, so that in case of a portable Music player (PMP), such as Zune / iPOD / Zen, 2 ear plugs or head phones may work simontaniously…

And in case of a notebook, it allows you to plug in 5.1 speakers to a single output… As 5.1 speakers would have 2 audio plug or jacks, Rear speaker connector and front speaker connector… !!! So now you may plug in both the Rear and front speaker to the notebook via this multi plug…

How does a multi plug look like ??

Its a nifty little tool…

How much one costs me ??

In local Kolkata (India) computer market is between Rs. 5/- to 10/-… Which is USD 0.25 each…

Move your Page File (Virtual Memory) to another drive

Those who are using Windows and with 2 HDD or even a single HDD with multi partition setup, for them, it is always advisable to move the Page File or the virtual memory file to another HDD or to another partition from the default location (which is the Windows installation partition)

What is a Page File ??

In simple words, when your system runs out of RAM by processing large amount of DATA, windows shifts some inactive and background process to a pre-allocated location of the hard drive by making it a part of system RAM (though because of slow read and write speed of the HDDs, a really slow RAM)
