How would rate the VX1940W as a product itself. Is it good to have 1680x1050 native resolution in 19" screen.
Also it has a static contrast ratio of 1000:1.
Its response time is 5ms (black to white).

I totally agree with Viewsonics pathetic technical support. I guess whether there is any knowledgeable person out there. I had the native resolution problem my VG1930wm monitor and wanted the EDID codes , but they could not provide it to me. By the way , you can set custom resolutions for your display card .
I searched for a couple of days and did get the solution .

This product is also the worst computer purchase i have ever bought. I was getting ghost effects and "fringes" on all games and videos. Come to find out, with nvidia, and most graphic cards, the native display of this monitor 1440x900 is NOT supported. Instead the drivers display it as 1440x1050. This causes the slide or fringe effect. When I called Viewsonic, they said there was nothing "wrong" with the monitor and i should contact Nvidia for making a "faulty" display card. I'm sorry, you would think a company like viewsonic would release a product that met industry standards. So now i'm stuck with this POS or out $250 bc I

Nice review. Been hearing a lot of complaints on the ViewSonic LCDs, can't believe their quality has gone that down. Their CRTs were one of the best. With every product like this, ViewSonic is losing their reputation(some would say it's already lost), funny how couple of bad products can totally destroy the rep.

The moral of the story is not to buy LCD just based on specification advetersed, rather make sure you test it before you buy, if the dealer says no then discard them from ur list.

I myself have gone through much same issues when I shifted last year to LCD use.
