Installing 2nd IDE drive as Master / Slave Configuration using jumpers

Some time I see people asking for solution how to install 2nd IDE driver under one channel ?? It could be a 2nd Hard Disk or a 2nd Optical drive as Writer of ROM….

Here is a Basic Guide for that…

You need to open up your desktop cabinet, locate your IDE Cable… You IDE cable (Standard one) would look like this,

IDE Cable

One standard IDE Hard drive may look like this,

IDE Hard Disk

Back of a Optical Storage drive (CD / DVD ROM / Writer) may look like this,

Optical drive

Now this is a diagram in which the IDE drives will be connected….

Master Slave

Once you have connected all the wires, this is the jumper settings you may need to follow…

Jumper configuration for IDE drives !!!

Your system will detect them both now without any issue..
