I would try to share what I have learnt
Core 2 Duo or AMD X2 ??
At this point of the time I am really short on Budget !! I have to save for my plan for Education USA, but my computer which is a AMD 2600 XP runs with a 512MB RAM is really giving me problem !!I need to upgreade where as My budget is very short, just a maximum of 20k (Rs. 20,000/-), I plan to buy a Processor, Motherboard, and RAM !!
There are 2 choices infront of my, a Low end Core 2 Duo or a Medium range AMD X2, e6300 with a G946 based mobo, or a AMD X2 4400 with M2N-E mobo !! Both case I would think for a 1Gb of DDR2.
Core 2 Duo will come with 2MB L2 with 1.86 GHz where as X2 will have 2.2GHz and 1MB L2 !!
I preffer AMD but where ever I dicsuss suggestion comes to go with Core 2 Duo !!

@Azlan
What is your budget for a graphics card ??
Sir, really unfortunate but I really do not have any contact in Pakistan hence I am unable to speak of the rates available there.
USD values has really little mean over countries which has import / excise duty !!!!
Hence sir you have to ask in local market to get a quotation !!!
Thank you,

Thats the best review I have ever read.
Hi! Choto, I want to buy a laptop in the range of 25K-28K for usage @ home. It should be able to handle some basic software like autocad, adobe, yahoo mmessenger etc. No heavy stuff reqd.
I have shortlisted few of them as detailed below.
1) Lenovo 3000 G410 204946Q
2) Compaq C772TU (KU764PA)
Which one would you advise?
Any other alternate is also welcome.
Thanks in advance and waiting for you reply.

Thanks Choto! you are doing a great work by doing this selfless service.
Any way I feel most people here are basically home users who want an excellent combination of motherboard and cpu irrespective of the brand.the rest of the things you can add up.But it should be future ready and should be very good for video applications(graphics),multiple application handling etc.I believe there is no point in wasting your hard earned money running after the ‘latest’ in this highly fluctuating technological scenario, where the price also fluctuates a lot.
Personally I am using an amd processor for the past 5 years and another pentium iv(HT-1.9 ghz, intel 845gc) for the past 3 years.both haven’t given me any trouble as such. Now I prefer to buy/upgrade/split the existing in to two computers (as the old computers has the value of peanuts these days) to a windows vista ready enviornment.
So i would love to see a few best combinations of cpu -mother boards which are economical or value buys.Hope you can help me and others who wants to build their dream mechines
Once again thanks for all your efforts!

i am eying it right but need to know if that will give me the biggest bang for my buck.
looked at the lenovo 3000 N200. two things – the web price on the lenovo site is 32,490. Where will i find the price that you have quoted?? and secondly – it has free DOS – no windows. what would that mean for my usage??
A couple of my friends using vista are advising me not to take vista (compatibility problems) and instead go in for Windows XP. Your views??
If you can afford Dell 1525 then yes certainly thats the product to eye for
But for your use, I would say Lenovo 3000 N200 is more than enough (with extra 512 MN or 1 GB RAM) which comes at Rs. 29,500/- incl all tax and duty

Am looking to buy a laptop in the range of 35K. Light home and office usage. Pls advise.
whats your opinion on Dell Inspiron 1525
Hello Priyanka,
For your usage I would suggest, Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-A29 which is Rs. 29,500 incl tax and every thing.
How ever thats the base model and would come with 512 MB RAM, therefor ask the vendor for an extra 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz Notebook RAM module which should be Rs. 1100/-.
This notebook doesnt have any OS< therefore you may buy Windows XP SP2 Pro which should be Rs. 5200/- (all) or Windows Vista home premium which is Rs. 5500/- (all).
Thank you.
